Elizabeth Stapleton 'Liz'
28 October 1947 - 1 October 2021
All donations are gratefully received and will be forwarded in memory of Liz to DanceSyndrome. Your donation will help further the work of this charity.
Soon after moving to Heather Cottage, Liz joined a group of volunteers
to help Jen Blackwell, who lived with her parents, Sue and Malcolm, in Great
Barford and who had been born with Down’s Syndrome. Children with Down’s
Syndrome often have looseness of the muscles and joints and the volunteers
helped Jen with a series of exercises designed to strengthen these. Jen had a
passion to become a dancer and dance leader and, given the lack of
opportunities for her, she founded in 2009, DanceSyndrome, a multi-award
winning inclusive dance charity based in Lancashire with a special focus on
including everyone, regardless of ability. Among the many Awards which Jen and DanceSyndrome have achieved in Lancashire and nationally, she was named Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2015 at the Enterprise Vision Awards which celebrates women in business across the North-West.
Liz was so happy to see the achievements which Jen has made and that she had played a part in helping Jen to achieve her dreams.
